partnering with our sister school gaoqia primary school since 2019

Since 2019, Albion established and maintained a school partnership with Xiaoshan Gaoqiao Primary School in Hangzhou, China. Mr Bardouille, Headteacher, said, “We learn best when we can see, hear, and experience things first hand. Multi-sensory learning is an important part of school life, and school trips delve into the requirements of all five senses.” Pupils from Albion had the opportunity to visit 3 schools in China in 2019. In Summer 2024, children from Gaoqiao Primary School visited Albion where they were welcomed with open arms. The purpose of this visit was to provide an opportunity for children to to immerse themselves in the richness of British culture, the English language, diverse worldviews, and the unique British lifestyle.

During their visit, teachers and children immersed themselves in school life and had the chance to partake in various activities designed for their enrichment. The specialist Art Teacher worked with the children on landscape painting, they baked Victoria cupcakes with the Headteacher, took a historical visit to the British Museum with the Assistant Headteacher, learnt the Albion theme song with the music tutor in which they performed to the Headteacher on their last day and they participated in the annual carnival parade. What an eventful week they had!

Their visit was undoubtable a memorable experience for the invited teachers and children. I believe we reached our aim that this cultural exchange will continue to foster enduring friendships and provide an opportunity for all children to broaden their global perspectives.
