Clack Street - update
Did you notice the signs that went up during the holidays? It's all part of the Southwark school streets initiative. Clack Street is now a pedestrian zone!
The Southwark school streets initiative closes roads around schools in places where residents, schools or parents have reported concerns about poor air quality or road safety.
Albion Primary School has been chosen for the scheme.
Clack Street will be closed from 8:30am to 9:30am and 3pm to 4pm on term-time weekdays for a trial period of 14 weeks (begins 24/02/20).
- The school will be using barriers to close the road.
- Pedestrians and cyclists will be exempt from the closure.
- If residents require access they must contact Albion Primary School in advance on 020 7237 3738.
- The Council will carry out extensive monitoring of the impacts of the trial before deciding on next steps. It will be assessing whether the scheme has reduced road safety issues, improved air quality and encouraged more people to travel actively.
