International Evening 2023

This month [October] in celebration of International Day, pupils, parents, carers and staff were invited to wear cultural dress and colours, perform poetry or share songs and prepare cultural dishes to share at Albion’s International Evening on Friday 13th October 2023.
It was amazing to see so many members of our school community coming together for our first community event of the school year! Parents, carers and staff alike cooked and served a tremendous range of delicious dishes from all over the world! Those in attendance had the opportunity to taste the incredible recipes on offer, such as the jollof rice from Nigeria, tacos from Mexico, tarte tatin from France and the Pão de queijo from Brazil.
We would really like to thank Elly’s husband, Tom, who took up our offer to perform for parents and pupils at this event and we were treated to a selection of songs played on his guitar, which had families dancing together too! For future events, we would really like to have a wide range of musicians to share music from different cultures, if you yourself or your friends or family would like to also take up this offer in future, please speak with our event organisers, Rebecca and Suzette.
Finally, we want to say a huge thank you to each and everyone who was able to cook and serve their dish for this event. Without your time, talent and generosity, the event would not have been possible! Thank you!
If you were unable to support with this event, don’t miss out on your chance to get involved in our next upcoming community event, the Winter Fair on Friday 1st December 3:45pm-5:30pm. Information to follow over the next month so please stay tuned for how you can play your part to support Albion!
FEEDBACK
It was great seeing so many different cultures represented, seeing clothing costumes and trying food we’d never tried before!
I loved seeing my child in a different setting, plus the food was awesome! I wish I skipped lunch!
The children loved the opportunity to represent their culture. My child did lots of preparation for their outfit and was super excited to get ready that morning. We discussed the islands mottos and some other geographical elements too!
