Road Safety Week
This week, the focus at Albion Primary has been firmly on keeping safe as we travel to and from school and around our local community. We are delighted to share that this week was road safety week at Albion during which many of the pupils submitted entries for the poster competition. So many creative ideas, bright colours, and important messages about how to be responsible pedestrians and cyclists!
Why is Road Safety So Important?
Learning about road safety is one of the most important lessons we can teach our children. Our roads can be busy places, and knowing the rules helps everyone stay protected. Simple things like:
- Always using the Green Cross Code (Stop, Look, Listen, Think).
- Wearing bright clothes and lights, especially when it's dark (Be Bright, Be Seen!).
- Holding a grown-up's hand near traffic.
- Knowing when and where it is safe to cross.
These skills are essential for making sure all our pupils can walk and cycle safely, giving parents/carers peace of mind.
Poster Competition: Here's a Sneak Peek!

We were so impressed by the creativity and thought that went into every poster entry. Our judges have a tough job ahead of them!
Here is a little sneak peek at some of the fantastic designs that really captured the spirit of road safety:
- Look Both Ways: A colourful design featuring giant eyes checking for traffic.
- Hold a Hand: A bright image reminding children to stay close to an adult near the road.
- Zip it up! A clever poster about securing seatbelts in the car.
The winners will be announced in soon and their posters will be displayed prominently around the school.
A huge well done to everyone who took part! Let's all continue to practice our excellent road safety habits every day.
